Here, you’ll discover Tips to create healthy superfood smoothies for kids and adults.
1.) Consider Frozen or Fresh Ingredients
Fresh ingredients are always best, but when you are on a budget, frozen fruits and vegetables may be the way to go. Most frozen fruits and vegetables maintain a lot of their nutritional value.
Most frozen fruits and vegetables are less expensive and they last much longer than fresh fruits and vegetables so whether you choose fresh or frozen ingredients, the choice is yours when it comes to healthy superfood smoothies for kids and adults. We all want to be budget conscious and healthy.
2.) Use Natural Sweeteners
If you put healthy ingredients in your blender for your superfood smoothies and find the flavor to be a little bland, use natural flavorings to enhance the taste. Did you know that dates make a great natural sweetener for superfood smoothies for kids and adults? Honey is also an excellent natural flavoring to add sweetness. Pediatricians however, recommend that you not introduce honey to children under 12 months old. Honey may contain spores of bacteria that can cause botulism. Now hold your horses, this doesn’t mean all of our honey supply is contaminated. These bacteria are actually harmless to adults and children over 1. Keep that in mind when making healthy superfood smoothies for kids
3.) Water as a Thinner
With all of the goodness of superfoods, sometimes your smoothie will come out too think and frothy. If you find the smoothie is too thick, water is great to use to thin it out. Water is healthy, readily available and will help to thin out the smoothie without adding additional calories. Who doesn’t love that!
5.) Combine Superfoods for a Great Taste
I started this article by saying that we want to combine ingredients for nutrition and taste. Not all healthy superfood smooothies for kids will go well together. So, when thinking of what to add in the smoothie, consider these foods to put together. Orange fruits and berries go well with avocado and kale. Almonds are also a great addition to berries and Greek yogurt. I love the combination of strawberries, bananas and almond milk. When you have found a great combination, experiment a little with different superfoods.
6.) Choose a Blender for Healthy Superfood Smoothies for Kids
Although blenders are super versatile, most people use their blenders for making smoothies than any other use. You will want to pick one that can slice through vegetables and crush ice like the hulk crushes a bolder. You will also want one that doesn’t break the bank, after all you probably have kids if you are reading this. Here are some awesome blenders that are as little as $22.00
