How A Great Day Begins

It was 6:00 a.m. when I woke to my daughter screaming in her crib down the hall. I lazily got out of bed, feeling like I hadn’t slept for days. I sat up and thought about all the things that needed to get done, which only made me feel more exhausted.

I silently made my way down the hall, trying not to wake my sleeping family. I started to gather my thoughts for the day ahead. It was going to be a long one, I could already tell.

I had a lot of errands to run and chores to do around the house. On top of that, I had to work on a project for my job that was due that day. I was feeling overwhelmed and stressed just thinking about everything I had to do.

I poked my head around the corner of my daughter’s bedroom door. She stood up in her crib knawing on the top of the wood bars leaving teeth marks. She was hollering louder than a fire engine’s siren blaring down the road.

She could see my head through the door hinges and stopped. I paused and then jumped into her room saying “Peek A Boo!” She laughed.

I picked her up, kissed her cheek, and I started singing one of her favorite songs: Itsy Bitsy Spider I realized that that day was going to be a good one. Because my kids make today amazing! Here are more ways to make today a good day.

Decide to Make Today Great!

Yesterday may have been a difficult day. Maybe life has given you far more pain than happiness. Take a minute to notice everything you have to be grateful for.

I choose to have a great day because I know that it will put me in a good mood and make me feel better. Also, having a great day will make me more productive and help me achieve my goals.

I can decide to spend time with each of my kids, enjoying enough time for a positive interaction with each child individually to have a really good day and even make their bad day a little better.

You will be surprised how deciding to have an amazing morning, afternoon, and evening will not only help you get stuff done, but bring hope that tomorrow will be an equally wonderful day.

Finally, enjoying my day will ensure that I have many positive experiences to remember later. Therefore, if you want to have a great day, make the choice to do so! Make today great!

Set Your Intentions!

When it comes to making each day great, there are a few key things that we can do to help ensure that today is a success. First and foremost, it’s important to set our intentions for the day.

Spend time before you even get out of bed that it is going to be a good day. Don’t worry that yesterday was a bad day. Just look at this one good day.

How is the morning going to go? Are you going to exercise? Is that important to you? Is there a challenge are you going to face this morning? How can you face this day with a perfect brightness of hope? Are you having a lunch play date with a friend and her kids? Decide that the world isn’t going to end if the kids get a little loud with their friends.

How can you face this day with joy and gratitude? Give yourself a sense that things are going to work out. Intend to find ways to make today a good day.

Whether we want to focus on spending time with our family, getting work done, or simply taking some time for ourselves, setting an intention for how the day is going to look and how you are going to go through your day, is the first step to make today great!

Be Present

The present is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present. Being in the here and now means being fully aware of and engaged in the moment you’re in, without letting your mind wander off to worry about the future or dwell on the past.

It sounds easy, but it’s actually quite difficult to do. The key is to practice mindfulness or being aware of your thoughts and feelings without judging them.

There is no one answer to this question, as the best way to be present with your kids will vary depending on your individual circumstances. However, some tips on how to be more present with your kids include setting aside time each day to focus on them, putting away electronic devices and focusing on face-to-face interaction, and being fully engaged when you are with them.

Additionally, try to be present in the moment and enjoy the time you have with your kids, as they will not be young forever.

Prioritize Your Day

If you have a monumental to-do list and an already busy day ahead, move those to-do items to another day. By doing less, you can actually have a better day.

When you have less on your plate, you can focus on the things that are truly important to you. You can also take the time to enjoy the simple things in life. Less can definitely be more when it comes to having a great day.

Get One Big Rock Done Today and Leave the Rest

In his book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Steven R. Covey talks about the importance of prioritizing the “big rocks” in our lives. He suggests that we start each week by writing down the six most important things we need to accomplish. Then, we should schedule time for each item on our list and make sure to stick to our plan.

Covey’s analogy of the “big rocks” is helpful in reminding us to focus on the things that are most important to us. By taking the time to prioritize our tasks, we can make sure that we’re making the most of our time and accomplishing the things that are truly meaningful to us.

What Does Your Perfect Ordinary Day Look Like?

I am guessing that you haven’t thought about this for a while. It is possible to be in the parenting trenches and have a perfect day. You don’t need to fly off to an exotic place for a shopping trip to make this a perfect day. So how do you do it?

Well, start off with the ideas above by having an intention and being in the present. Then:

1. Start by creating a to-do list for the day. This will help you know what needs to get done and when.

2. Next, block out some time for one of the “big rocks”. Make sure to include time for breaks and one on one time with the kiddos.

3. Once you have a general plan for the day, try to be flexible with it. If something comes up that wasn’t on your list, don’t stress too much about it. Just go with the flow and adjust your schedule as needed.

4. Finally, try not to get too sidetracked by things that aren’t important, like social media. Most great days don’t include a lot of social media sites. If you stay focused, you’ll be able to accomplish everything you set out to do.

Declutter Something Small

Even decluttering something small will make a huge difference. It can be overwhelming to try and tackle everything at once, but even taking small steps can have a big impact.

Just focus on one area at a time. Maybe a drawer or a small shelf could use some attention. Set a timer for 15 minutes. and before you know it, you on that much closer to having a great day. Plus, you’ll feel great knowing that you’ve accomplished something!

Get Outside

There are many reasons why we should get outside every day. For one, spending time outdoors in nature has been shown to have numerous health benefits.

Studies have found that being in nature can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve moods, boost energy levels, and even promote better sleep. In addition, time spent outside has also been linked with better cognitive function and mental well-being.

So why not take advantage of these benefits and make a point to get outside every day?

Take the kids for a walk, and play a quick game of tag. Even if it’s just for a few minutes, being in nature can help improve your overall health and wellbeing. So go ahead and enjoy the great outdoors!

The Power of 3

There are a few reasons why focusing on only three projects is the best way to get things done. For one, it allows you to put all of your efforts into those three projects and complete them more quickly and effectively than if you were trying to juggle multiple projects at once.

Additionally, it can help prevent you from feeling overwhelmed or bogged down by too many tasks, as you can simply focus on completing the three projects that are most important to you.

Finally, focusing on only three projects at a time can help you to better prioritize your time and energy, ensuring that you are using both wisely.

When we try to do too many things at once, our brains get overloaded and we can’t focus on any one task. This is because our brains are not very good at multitasking. Instead, they are better at switching between tasks quickly. This means that when we try to do too many things at once, we are actually just slowing down our brains.

Listen to Music and Have a Dance Party

There are many benefits of listening to music. Music can help reduce stress, improve mental alertness, boost immunity, and even promote healing.

No matter what your mood, there is likely a song that can get you in a better mood.

Here are just a few awesome songs that will encourage a family dance party:

1) “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” by Justin Timberlake

2) “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars

3) “Happy” by Pharrell Williams

4) “The Way You Make Me Feel” by Michael Jackson

5) “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” by Whitney Houston

Enjoy the Sun

It’s like the cherry on top of a great day! There are few things more relaxing than watching the sun rise or set. It’s a great way to start and end a day. The colors are beautiful, and it’s a time to reflect on the day ahead or the day that has passed. It’s a moment to appreciate the world around us and all that we have.

Spend One On One Time With Your Child

According to a study conducted by the American Academy of Pediatrics, spending one-on-one time with your child can have a number of benefits.

These benefits include increased communication and bonding between parent and child, as well as improved behavior in children.

The study also found that children who spend more time with their parents are more likely to succeed in school and have better social skills.

One-on-one time with your child does not have to be expensive or time-consuming. It can be as simple as reading a book together, playing a game, or going for a walk.

Whatever you do, the important thing is that you are spending quality time with your child and showing them that they are important to you.

Conclusion:

When we face each day with intention, and gratitude, you may not always have the best day, but it will always be a great day.
